Audio Line Level Balance?
Is there any way to set the input levels so the individual sound devices are at the same level when you would switch between them? The Ipod (AUX) level is very low in relation to the others, even when the local output of the Ipod is up full. If I switch from the Ipod at a listenable level I get blasted out of the car if I switch to the radio etc. Big mismatch here. They have installed the "new" cable and everything seems to be functioning OK, Ipod is charging now, but this issue remains. There's a small difference between the radio and CD player (CD player is slightly lower in volume) but not as radical as the Ipod input. This isn't a big deal but still is a PITA. Any quick fixes? TIA

The audio system should compensate for various input levels and even raises or lowers the sound level automatically depending on ambient noise. Could it be that this feature was disabled when you had your iPod installation done?

I guess anything is possible. How would I check to confirm status of level compensator? Some folks that don't have the IPOD kit installed simply use a battery powered headphone amplifier but, I believe, don't have the functionality of the dash Ipod controls and display. Is it one or the other, but not both? Haven't seen an amplifier type device that would plug between the docking Ipod connector and Ipod car kit connector. Which, apparently, would be required to provide both functions. Also, this way you could power the amp as well, with no amp batteries. A perfect solution but does anyone make such an animal.

Found the answer posted by one of the other helpful folks here. MB P/N A204 870 39 94, cost about $45. Easy install, plug and play. Some have been able to get MB to cover this as it is a known problem to MB.
