2002 55 amg

this question has been asked before, but i cannot find any information on it that is more current than 2008. we own a 2002 s55 amg that has been sitting for a while. mechanically it is running perfect, but the hands-free phone system is obsolete as s the navigation. i called the dealer and they were no help. does anyone have any current as in 2010 current on what is available and what we can do to update these systems?

I have a 2001 S55, and unfortunately it is a bit difficult to upgrade the hands free. Newer models can just put in a bluetooth puck, but ours is too old - you need to change the cradle, and it will cost a few hundred dollars. (Once I got a dealer quote for around $1,500 to change the system, but there are some cheaper options)

With the nav, all you can do is get new CD's. The nav is good, for the most part, though - the search and points of interest is slow and hard to search, but the point to point navigation is not bad.

The only other solution that I don't like as much is to put in a newer head unit, like something with an LCD from best buy, or even a 2003 Nav and retrofit it to fit your dash - but that requires a lot of work and can be expensive too.
