2008 S65 AMG, 2005 SLR McLaren
I purchased my '08 S65 RENNtech from Driving Emotions and had a great experience with them... I do know they are an authorized RENNtech dealer which would explain why they have so many RENNtech cars... My S65 is black, but I do like the White with Panoramic Roof too. ... I LOVE the RENNtech upgrades and truly think its worth the $$$ (Car feels faster than my SLR!! LOL).... Good luck with your purchase!!

When do you guys estimate the prices of 07 S65's dropping to $65k-ish. 6 months, 12 months, longer. We are getting pretty close. I'm going to hold out until Summer to wait and see unless a killer deal comes up. If the price lingers here longer than a year, I must as well pull the trigger now and enjoy it. At this point, the previous owners all took the bath on these cars.

Interested in your personal opinions...

I saw some nice 08 S65's on autotrader for right at 100k so I believe by the end of the year, there will be some excellent buys to be had. In my opinion, by the end of the year the 08's and 09's will be well under 100k, with some 2010's not far above the 100 level. It is amazing how quick these things depreciate. I went to my local MB dealer this last weekend, and there were no s63's or s65's to be found on the lot, new or used. I don't know if that is out of the ordinary or not, but it leads me to believe that people who have them are holding out for top dollar and the folks trying to hang onto their 07's for six figures are going to take a bath. I am going to wait another six or seven months and grab me a nice S65 for what I think will be a super price.
That '09 had to either have a Salvage title or huge miles to dip to that price.
Clean '10s are not going to get close to a $100k mark for another year at least (very low number of them in US as they were by special order only) or until the new body style is introduced (2013).

It's neither really. It's a one owner car, clean carfax and 45k miles. I think the mileage is a little high but not too bad. I would have bought this car if it was white or silver.

Its because they drop SO fast, its hard to know what a good price is. I can't imagine the original owner of my car paying $205 and then trading it in 9K miles later (and 3 years) for 89K. Ouch. S65s are like catching a falling knife and i could probably only sell mine for 70K now 6 months later with 12K miles.

I bought mine for 106,000 in 2009 with 11K on it in a bad economy. This morning its has 31K miles and have been the only flawless problem free benz Ive ever had.

I would think its worth about 80K now. , used its not horrible depreciation for a car that puts a smile on your face everytime your in it. Just replaced the Nittos on it after 15K... they did very well for inexpensive tire.

I dont think youll see the 07 going for 60-70k anytime soon because of the body style..., unless its a high mileage car...., and of course I hope im right.

fast cars and faster motorcycles ..
.

the fact that MB builds cars with 604 hp and 738 lbs torque is a gift to us.

great car.. i'm in a S65 and young friend in my lambo G spyder... he couldn't believe how much faster the 65 was than the G from a roll.

this is from AMG Private Lounge

The depreciation is definitely rough. It's a fantastic car and engine, and while fast, nowadays for 100k you can get a much faster car than a used S65. (Like the new CLS63). The issue with the W221 is the weight; the W220 was lighter so significantly faster.

Really? You say for 100k I can get a "much faster car?" 220 S65's can be had for the mid 30's, and 221's for mid 70's. My 220 S65 went consistent 11.70's at 121-122mph, bone stock on DR's and a best of 11.59@123. I drove 68 miles to the track with DR's mounted on 18" rims, floor jack, and a slew of tools in the trunk (with it closed)......bolted on some MT ET streets on arrival and went 11.60's half a dozen times with my seat warmers on and in the comfort of the safest sedan in the world, under warranty. It seats 5 adults comfortably, it's quiet, reliable, has every amenity one can dream of and will embarrass 95% of the street cars out there. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a car with the same luxuries that will even come close to the S65 for 100k......and most likely hard to find at all.

I'm sure someone will correct me, but the weight difference between the 220 and 221 is ~300-400lbs?? I don't think with the amount of torque these cars make that 3-400lbs is going to make the 220 "significantly faster."

Sorry, but I'm a but partial to the 65 and I think for the price (used) they're one of the most incredible cars built.....and phrases like "for 100k you can buy a much faster car" annoy me.....becuase the fact is, for 100k, they're very, very few cars that are "much faster" and for 35k/75k (220 vs 221) they're are slim to none that compare.

I totally agree...and good luck finding a new CLS63 for under 100K. It would also need the $8K ECU upgrade to get within sniffing distance of an S65 anyway. The W220 S65 is the speed bargain of the century. The W221 is still pricey at $75-100K, but I would like to see the list of "way faster" cars for the same money....especially with four doors.

I would like to bring this thread back up because a similar discussion is underway for 07 s65's in another thread. Anyone have any ideas on what s65 pricing will do for the second half of this year? Anything that would add downward pressure on pricing? 07 pricing seems to be relatively stable but 08 and 09 models still seems to be all over the place with asking prices. Same for the s63. Any ideas on where this is headed?

OK E55 Baller. What's it like? As a former 2005 E55 owner myself, I sold mine in Dec 2010 to jump into a S65 as well. Just never found the right one at the right price yet. What's it like compared to the E55? Interested in your thoughts...

The Renntech and mileage are only worth so much. I'd do a little more looking if I were you.....or buy my '06 65 for only 35k, how's that for depreciation?
How many miles do you have on your '06???

2006 Ferrari 612 2007 S65 RENNtech Stage 2
I bought an '07 S65 last week for ~$85.

MB CPO with under 19k miles. Stage 2 RENNtech. Panoramic, rear ventilation. Very clean and nice car.

I didn't steal the car but I got a fair deal considering its condition.

Last week, I also picked up a brand new set of 2011 s65 rims and tires for $2500. That was a good deal.

When you bought the car last week, what type of warranty was remaining or was included? Can you buy a warranty package if need be at the dealer for the 07?

How did you get a CPO car with a stage 2 Renntech package, the dealers here tell that will void my CPO warranty.

The dealer installed the RENNtech package. The original purchaser RENNtechs all his MBs.

Not to change the subject but has anyone seen any on the lot dealer pricing on 09 or 2010 s63's? There are none on any local dealer lots and I am interested to see what the current selling prices are to help me figure out if I want a 09 s65 or 09/2010 s63. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

These prices seem lower than I've seen, although I admit I haven't been actively looking.

I am looking to upgrade my '03 S600.
I have 3 S65's available. All prices are delivered

'07 58K miles $55K gray/black
'07 38K miles $83K blue/tan
'06 30K miles $50K black/black

If anyone is interested, give me a call. 602.430.6671
