Widest tire sizes that work on stock 2003-05 S55 wheels
Trying to do reasearch to plan for a possible purchase. Looking to know the widest tires that will work on the stock set up. I can see that the standard width is easily overwhelmed. Would also be interested in suggestions for reasonably price wheel options to go with that have a fairly OEM look, but may allow for a beefier set-up.

03 S55 AMG
I've got 285/30-20's on 20x9.5's in the rear and 255/35-20's on 20x8.5's on the front. Using Sport Edition ST4 wheels, kinda look like the factory AMG wheels. Front is maxed out but I think the rear has room for a 295.
That setup is pretty grippy but ride quality is horrible. Feels like a truck. I'm looking at going back to 18's. No idea if the smaller wheel affects how big a tire will fit. Bigger sidewall might bulge out more and contact the suspension?
