Any track advice?
The wife is taking her 06 S65 to the 1/8 mile track here in a few weeks. I already ordered the 18" M/T Drag Radials and Im looking for some 18" rims. Any advice as far as doing the burn out to hook up? What gear to do burn out, turn off esp in the I/C, how to get both tires spinning, what tire pressure to run on tires, etc. Car is all stock minus the K&N filters. Looking for base runs before we begin to mod the car. Also, what times and MPH should she be trapping in the 1/8? Thanks!
P.S. Looking for advice, not the "Do a search" reply because I already did.

There only seem to be a few guys who drag there S65s, and I may be the worst to ask, whereas Busa and one other guy whose name I am forgetting seem to be faster and better at it than I. I am an amateur when it comes to drag racing, as I have only run my S65 15 times or so. Best time is a 11.60 with a fairly horrific 1.84 60 ft. I find that the burnouts are much more complicated than they were on my e63, for some reason. I have noticed that when doing a burnout, any application of the brake immediately shuts power unless you go into Dyno mode. When in dyno mode, if you are not careful, if the revs get too high the tranny goes into "oh Sh*t" mode and shuts off. I mean shuts off the tranny, not the engine... I thought I sheared a halfshaft as when I revved in gear there was no forward movement. So then you are trying to keep the revs around 3k while doing the burnout, which is a skill I have not yet developed to its fullest (but intent to figure out this spring, damn it) I used a 18 inch rim with a 55 ET offset custom made by CCW, because I found the standard offsets available with our bolt pattern are like 42's and 35s and they stick out a bit. I wanted to drive around with them on occasionally, so I did not want them sticking out. Back to the burnout. Since I can only do one in Dyno Mode effectively, but launches work out better with track on, there is an awkward transisition when you are turning the car off to access the menu for dyno mode right after revving the engine, which probably aint so good for the car. So I have contented myself with a limited waterbox burnout with ESP off but not in dyno mode, no brakes, followed by launching with trac on. I am not sure if both wheels get going, as our cars do not have limited slips and are using a maybach rear-end, so I am not sure what limited slip will even work. I suspect the waterbox lets them both get going, though. Hope this helps somewhat. Z
p.s. - I don't have my slip handy, but i think I posted my times last fall, if you search my posts from last oct or nov I think I listed my 1/8th time and speed.
