Thank you! I love the beast.
23,500 on the clock, found her at Park Place MBZ in Texas.
Drive Dynamic Seats, KeylessGo, Parktronic, and all the other doodads that the S600 would have. Only thing missing is Distronic... which I really wanted..
I'll take it to the drag strip once or twice, that's probably going to be it.

Awesome car though. and the dealer has great service (IF you live here in Dallas)

I know the suspension is a bit firmer but these cars even with 19's ride extremely smooth. Also how are the stock IAT's? My friend's 65 always runs around 170-190 degrees and turbos always giving up making the exhaust "pop".
That miss fire is a *****...? I just replaced 2 coil packs and when I run 160mph+ and drive hard for an hr or so I may get a high speed miss fire or rough start up after a hard drive. Let me know what you discover man. Could be heat soaked ignition computer...possibly cats...or random gremlin. When I track mine down I will post it up. Sometimes thrown a Check Engine light and goes away soon. Codes come back as missfires... any ideas?? O2? anyone?
CONGRATS MAN!! and at 25...*******. Me<---31
Smoked many many slick "sports cars" in the big body 65 so far. Speedriven for ECU/TCU and all other upgrades. Trust me he will save you $$$

Ignition powersupply
It's properbly the ignition powersupply that causes this problem. It's the box located between the two cyllinder banks on top of the engine. These are often the cause to missfire codes not the ignition modules. The SDS tester can't differentiate between the powersupply and ignition module. I've had the similar symtoms with missfire on multible cylinders when getting hot. After cooling down engine was running fine for 1/2 hour!

I'm not sure, SDS clearly indicated cylinders 7-12 misfiring so you would think it would be that coil pack. I think if it was the power supply it would show up with random misfires.
Regardless, I'm picking the car up from the dealer in a few hours.
I actually have a spare voltage converter at home.

The majority of people who haven't owned an AMG car, especially a 65, don't get it........you can't afford to own the car without a warranty, period. If you could, you wouldn't be shopping for a 36k car. Pretty simple.

Well I got the car back from the dealer (which shall remain unnamed...) on Tuesday evening after they replaced the driver's side coil pack. Everything was running great.
This next part is unreal...
Today I was working on lowering the car and discovered these two MAJOR issues:
The PCV disconnected from the driver's side airbox:
The ****ing fuel rail feed line crushed and stretched to it's limits under the driver's side intercooler:
How could they do this?

So like what if the fuel supply hose sprung a leak at the joint from all the pressure on it and started filling up the engine bay with gasoline? The turbocharger is right under it too that would have been really nice.

Fuel just has to touch those manifold to ignite, those things are so hot its unreal. Glad you found the problems. You cant trust these dealers these days. I only trust one guy and you know his name already.

Nice little photo shoot as always. You make good use out of that run way. So the big question: When are you making the arrangements for the "Long Island Mile" out there??? I'm ready to sign up!!!

Oxygen, those pictures are amazing! And that is absolutely ridiculous on the quality of their "repairs" at the dealership. It's a good thing you were looking at the right spot. I always double check when my car comes back from the dealer as well.

Wow, you always make me jealous. Congrats nonetheless.
You really aren't helping my craving for a 65 though...
I gotta know though...which is better/faster, 600 or 65? which do you like better?

You move fast! Is that the new fuel line already installed after the dealer stretched it under the intercooler only a few days ago? Obviously nothing to put off. Again great pics to show off the car. Also is that your Kleeman LSD going in the s65 or just a picture? That is certainly something on my "want list".

Hey brother, as soon as your car is done we are certainly going there not only for a photoshoot but for some high-speed testing.
It's actually a little more than an airstrip... it's a 2,900+ acre area that used to be owned by the US Navy and then by Northrop Grumman before they vacated the area in 1998.
The building on the lower left is where the final assembly for F-14 fighters was done.
I never go on the actual runway because it's 200ft wide and it's tough to orient yourself. I use the taxiway which is about 75ft wide and 7,000ft long (~1.32 miles)
I usually go on Sundays before sunrise and this gives me about 5 hours worth of time to be there without being bother or running into people in Hondas and motorcycles.
What I can tell you is that the throttle definitely feels more aggressive and you just can't match the sound of the 6.0L V12 coupled to the AMG exhaust.
Also the Drive Dynamic seats in the S65 blow the ones in the S600 away.
As far as speed goes, all I can tell you is that it's ****ing fast. It honestly scares the **** out of me still every time I floor it.

OX, well done on your purchase. I was about to ask you about the ownership experience vs. the non-AMG. But it seems like this discussion has started already. I too love w220's and am a 1/2 step off grabbing a 65 to go with the 55. Good thing you know how to use a dealer, and how to do ish yourself.

I get this question a lot and it's tough to say. I sold my S600 back in November and was S-Classless for about 5 months so the S65 felt AMAZING after driving my A4 2.0T all this time.

I've been tossing the idea of there the CL600 or 65 for a while now. I'll see once the time comes to pull the trigger.

first dib on wheels :)
If you decide to get new ones/20" wheels, let me know if you'd like to sell existing wheels...thx.
P.S. Btw, I'm usually not a fan of carbon fiber, but on your car it looks AWESOME.
