NEW GUY! OLD PROBLEM! ABC! IN THE SHOP! READ! HELP?

WE HAVE A PROBLEM! ABC! In the Shop! Confused mechanic I think!
So I have been having a light on my dash stating the famous ACTIVE BODY CONTROL Drive carefully, car moves like a boat! The past few days I noticed it gettin really low on the rear driver side, we have 102 degree weather out here I dont know if that speeded up the process, but all the other sides seem to hold up as normal. So i decided to take into an indy shop who I found on searching on the internet for mercedes, european car repair etc... He replaced my fuel not too long ago so I decided to use him this time again. So I brought it in to him yesterday around 2pm. I get a call around 5pm saying he wont be able to look at it till tmr, which is today. I get a call this morning him telling me that I need to replace my pump and quotes me 13 hundred, Sounded low to me, I told him I will call him back and asked for the part number he told me "0024662401" I been callin around looking for a pump and a few places told me that that's not right, it supposed to be "0024666001" So I called him back and he said that he just gives the vin number and thats how he got the part number, and i told him what I been told and he said he isnt sure. SO AGAIN I tell him I will call him back. I tried to call and tell him to get the pump out so I he knows for sure what part number it is and I can maybe located one, since it needs to come out anyways.. When I tried to call back they said he was out the shop for a few hours and he will call me back...
Long Story!!! lol

Somebody any advice on anything???

sounds like you need a new mechanic. One who has done a number of ABC systems but who also calls you back and is in the shop. I'd take the car to the dealer, be straight with them and tell them you aren't comfortable paying 125 an hour to fix the car, but you'll pay them to diagnose the problem. If you ask nicely and not like an a-hole, I find they frequently will a)oblige you and tell you what is wrong with the car and give you a list of part numbers for a couple of hundred bucks, or b)become much more competitive on the price because they know you are going to get the car fixed somewhere else and they want to keep their techs busy. That being said, it all depends on the dealer. just my humble opinion, and it's worth exactly what you paid for it.

Yea you may want to reconsider this guy working on your ABC. The parts and Pentocin alone will cost more than $1300 so I do not think he has done this job before. I would bring it somewhere that has done it before, ABC mistakes can be VERY expensive if not done right the first time!

0024662401 is the single power steering pump if the car has airmatic. He looked up the wrong pump.
