New S55 owner - a few questions, please...

Picked up an 04 S55, silver with light grey leather, 29k miles, cosmetically and mechanically near perfect. (My 12th Benz (no, I don't still own most of the others), and by far the nicest/best).

After two days of driving (and looking at it smiling), I have a few issues.

First, is there a way to lower the seat? (Yes, I can work the buttons, but even all the way down, it seems unusually tall - maybe just different than I'm used to having had a 99 E55 for last 3 years...)

Is it normal for the trunk remote to have poor performance? This was true on my E55, but I expected it to be a lot better on the newer S55. I need to hit the button a couple times, and it only works if I am VERY close (like 3 feet or less...) (Once activated, trunk up and down seems to work properly).

Is it normal for air pump to cycle several times (and noisily) while car is turned on, but engine off? Air functions (soft doors and locks) all appear to work normal.

Does anyone have a mean set of 20" rims? My stock AMG 5 spokes have (very) minor curb rash, new Michelins (under 500 miles) (245/265) will trade + or - cash as appropriate.

TIA - David 727-244-0758

Congrats on your S55 and welcome to the AMG 'club'. Regarding the air pump (officially called the PSE Pump), if it's audible and cycling for what seems like long periods, the pump could be getting ready to fail. Noise is usually the primary symptom. Long cycle times are indicative of a small leak somewhere. Big enough for the pump to sense, but small enough for the various functions to work properly. Read up on it in the W220 section. I'm in the middle of a trunk lid problem now.
Cheers,
Jeff

I have a 2005 S55 and my trunk functions well from 20 feet or 2 feet, the button on the drivers door and trunk itself work well too...it will hit you in the head if you are not quick when pushing the button, but that is normal. You may need to replace the battery in your FOB...it is DIY and cheap.
I cannot hear the air pump at all, or it is too quiet.
Mine has 55K miles
