06 S55 AMG pre safe not available
My 2006 s55 AMG shows a pre safe not available warning and a check engine light together. It also would not shift from 2nd gear. At first it was stuck in 3rd gear. When I turned the ignition key off and back on everything was fine, ... for a couple of hours. It clunks forcefully into gear, both R and D. How great should I expect the damage to be?

Did that B service include a tranny fluid flush (now you have me worried)? If so, did they put the correct amount of fluid back....you may have some recourse if they did improper work...but it may be hard to prove. That is too few miles for the transmission to be going without having a leak or not enough fluid.

Come to think of it...too much fluid is just as bad, as not enough, and your symptoms seem to reflect the fluid being too high...that causes air bubbles in the tranny and lack of proper lubrication, binding, etc.
You need to verify the level and remember there is no stick unles you buy an aftermarket service dipstick.
Nice huh!
I bought one on Ebay a year ago and got one for oil while I was at it.

hmm, ... B service did not include tranny flush. That's probably a good thing because they put too much oil in the engine at that service. 2 minutes after I picked it up it showed me that engine oil level was too high and I had to go back. They took 2 quarts out. Certified technicians?!?
Dipstick, yeah, that was funny. Oil level I can check trough board computer but tranny, I guess I gotta get me an aftermarket stick also.
What do you mean by "electrical connection leaking"? bad connection, maybe rust or loose?
Thanks
Kemal

All of our W220 cars have a vellow round connection at the front of the tranny for the electricals. The electrics plug into a plastic plug that fits onto the tranny and is sealed by o-rings...these typically begin to leak and the leak may be slow enough to not make drips on the floor. My car has only 55K miles and was leaking...I changed my fluid myself and found my connector had a small leak...I replaced mine in principal.
