Sound System Bass Response
I need the opinion of the group in regards to the sound system in my S55AMG. With my 2000 S500 I had the same problem, and at least partially correctly it by installing a 10 inch free air subwoofer powered by a 120 watt Alpine subwoofer power amp. This dramatically improved the bass response. The problem was that the subwoofer projected down into the trunk and thus reduced luggage space. I purposely chose the specific subwoofer (Xtant) because it was only 5 3/4 inches deep.
I am considering using the same power amp/sub combination in the S55 but would like to improve the sound quality even more. Surely someone else has noted the lack of bass response in their S series car and has sought a solution. Anyone have a better idea?
