2009 w221 S63 CPO what to look out for?

Hey all,

I am looking at buying a CPO 2009 S63 with 30,000 miles on it. Car is in pretty good condition and fully loaded, and was previously owned by one owner. It was regularly serviced at a mercedes dealer. They are asking $74,290. I am hoping to get it for less than that. Car drives pretty nice.

Just wanted to know if there is anything specific I should look at, this will be my first CPO car purchase. The front and rear brake rotors have some rust on them, tires are brand new and engine bay is pretty spotless.

I am torn on the extended warranty through MBUSA they are asking like $5900 for an additional three years. Is this worth it, I know these cars have so much tech in them. My old s500 w220 had issues with the spedo display once the car hit like 80,000 miles.

Any advice on what to look for or input is greatly appreciated.

Make sure the front pads and rotors are within the cpo spec. Some dealers may try selling them when they are slightly under spec. They should have [U]very[U] pronounced dimples. If the dimples are almost gone, so are the rotors. A front brake job is about $3,000 on that car with the rotors being about $1,200 ea.

I see you currently own a c63 so i'm assuming you know about the camshaft/lifter issues as well as intake gasket issues? Some also have upper oil pan leaks.

The only other common issue I can think of is the abc pressure supply hose "sweating" before it blows out. It runs across the front of the engine on the left side.

Over all they are reliable cars however I would still get a warranty. It will be worth it
