Oxygen, aren't these the older Luk brand pump? Isn't there a newer manufacturer that isn't as prone to fail?

It's tough to say which ones are which brand, and which is more reliable.

The older ones were manufactured by Luk as you stated, the newer ones are made by Ixetic.

I bought a remanufactured one from BUYAUTOPARTS (as shown in the earlier ebay link) and it was beautiful, a LUK unit, quite professionally refurbished.) I had a mechanic friend help me and we changed it out in about 2 hours and it has performed absolutely perfectly for the past 3 months or so, so it worked great for me. They have a $500 core charge which was promptly refunded when I returned the leaking core in the prepaid shipping package they sent the rebuilt unit in to me. Just be sure to have enough of the correct fluid Pentosin CHF 11S on hand before you start. I got mine at NAPA for about $18.25 per liter wich is much cheaper than Mercedes parts window. Also be sure to purge air from the new unit by slowly turning the steering wheel from lock to lock repeatedly (about twenty times) to get all the air out. Good luck!
