MP3 input for W220 S55

Hey guys, I wanted to know what I can do to play my ipod or other MP3 devices through the radio. Is there a kit out there? I looked a little online like ebay, but could find anything specific for the S55. What is everyone else doing?

Also, What cds/dvd do I need to run my navigation? Thanks

Depending on the year, you may have an AUX socket on the left side of your glovebox. You can either use a stereo jack plug cable to hookup directly to your iPod or use a Bluetooth device. If you dont have the AUX in the glovebox, then you can hookup directly to the AUX pins on the back of the COMAND unit.

Oh so there should be an aux pin in the back? How can I get to it? If this isn't an option, what can I do for a bluetooth device? I'm not really sure what I'd need.

Thanks

I also have a 2006 which uses the MOST system, not D2B. So there is no Aux port from the factory. You will have to go aftermarket to add these to your factory system (like I did) but honestly if I had to do it all over again I would just get an aftermarket head unit and be done with it. An aftermarket head unit will have Bluetooth built in, give you ipod/MP3 access, have Pandora, have way better navigation, include back up camera, etc. for about half the price. Just my opinion. If you want to stay "stock" their are companies out there that can help you out. I just dont want to name them because they screwed me over! Good luck to you.

Damn, really? That sucks...I guess I'll just get a good FM transmitter for my music. Seems like the sound quality wouldn't be as good but I guess it's better then nothing.

I don't really want to get something aftermarket. I would imagine it costing a lot plus I like my steering wheels controls...

Have you checked whats in your glovebox yet? I have an AUX port in there, but discovered it after i got an aftermarket DVD player put in the glovebox.

The way mine is connected up is through the TV Aerial in the boot, that has another 2 RCA ports on it (the ones that require the Red, Yellow and White wires).

It was a hell of a lot cheaper than i thought it would be, its hidden in the glovebox, has its own remote, plays DVD/MP3/USB and works through the normal COMMAND unit. I couldnt be happier.

No, I'm almost positive I don't have anything in the glove box. I'm curious to know what's on the back of the unit but have no clue how to get it out. So I'm losing hope in the hole thing. I might have to see if I can find a good transmitter. I wonder if there are better ones than the cheap ones at walmart.

To be honest i too was losing hope in it but was surprised at how easy the whole thing actually turned out to be.

Removal should take about 10 minutes if you've never done it before.

Did you go with an aftermarket unit? Do the steering wheel controls still work?

My COMMAND unit is still the same, nothing has been changed, just another bit added on.

This is the DVD player i have gone for, havnt had a single problem with it so far.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1806054970...84.m1423.l2649

The volume control on the steering wheel works for all music, wether played through this device or a normal CD through the 6 disc changer in the back. The change the track up and down only works with the CD changer in the back.

This one works through the TV button and has its own remote, so you can actually see what song is playing, what you have selected and what folder your in if you want to split your music up.

Some might say its cheap chinese junk blah blah but in all honesty i couldnt be happier.

I was originally looking at one of these as i think they would look and work the best.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-B...item3cc20f91a9

However, i have heard of people struggling to power them up, no sound coming from them etc etc. A few problems basically that put me off in the end.

But the choice is yours really.

Thanks for the advice. I've just bought one but found it a bit cheaper here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...:X:AAQ:US:1123

Just to be clear about my setup: I have a UK MY2003 S600. It has a TV tuner in the rear with two sets of RCA sockets as well as an AUX in the glove box. I've run two sets of RCA cables from the boot to the glove box. Under the TV option you can select AUX 1 or 2. For AUX 1 I will be running the DVD player. For AUX 2 I will be connecting up my Iphone using this cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Composite-AV...item1c25fda1d9

The Iphone RCA connection will allow the IPhone's Sat Nav to run from the car's screen.

One final thing. The TV is disabled once in motion and so you have to change this setting using STAR. Very simple procedure.

Oh and for those of you who don't have a TV tuner (all of you in the US, I think), you could buy something like a Deitz 1440: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktio...hmentId=544248

This allows you to connect a DVD, Iphone etc and allows video in motion. I have a spare one somewhere... You have to be careful to buy the right one, for the right model year though. MY2003 uses an APS220 Comand whereas >MY2004 is Comand 2 and would need a different interface.

Thanks for the info, will probably come in handy if i decide to bite the bullet and get an iphone at some stage.

Unless mine has been done somewhere in the past, my DVD player works through the TV settings, on AUX 2, even when the car is at motorway speeds. Iv never had it on STAR whilst in my possession. Though in all honesty i too was expecting it to go off after 10mph, but it happily kept on playing at greater speeds.

Bonus.
