2003 S55 AMG
2003 S55 AMG ABC pump line

I had both ABC pumps replaced 2 weeks ago. A few days ago my ABC supply hose came loose. It is back in the shop for another $1,300.00 repair. Apperently the clamp failed and the hose/line came off.


two questions:
1. Is this the fault of the dealership, should they have caught this before I left?
2. Should the Pumps have been covered by MB warranty? I thought I read someone else had the same ssue and it was covered.

Any advice or response is greatly appreciated.

My opinion says #1 yes they should over the hose, it is obvoius they either caused the issue or should have replaced the hose. and #2 no, the car is 9 years old, they wont go that far out unless you go for the extended warranty.

ABC Supply Line Recall

Thanks for you response. As an update, I did talk with MB yesterday and there was a recall in 2007 on the 2000 - 2004 models to replace the ABC Supply Line. Nothing for the pumps, but this may clear up some confusion.

Unfortunately, my Supply line was replaced in 2008, so I am still in the same boat. But, I am of the opion that the Supply Line is not a wearable part and should not come off during operation. We will see if I have any luck with the dealership.

Any other advice is appreciated.

As you said, the line was recalled in 2007. Your recall replacement then failed....

Let us know what they say.

The dealership is telling me there are multiple lines to the ABC system, and the one that failed is not the one that was recalled. It took me a while to get this explanation out of them. I have been trying to find a schematic of the ABC for my car for reference. Any advice on where to find one?

Unfortunately, this was not my only "bad" experience and I am waiting for the dealership to give me their official response. I will post the reply when I have it.

I still feel that if I take my car to a MB dealership for repair that they should recommend replacing hoses in this system. They certainly should be looking for potential weak spots in a system that pumps out that level of force. I could have got this level of service for half the price at any "German" repair shop.
