2007 S65 broke 5 fuel pumps in 6 months

Im not sure what to do at this point. I've replaced fuel pump(s), charcoal canister, pressure sensor(s), and recently I've even changed the entire fuel tank. The new tank came with a new pump, pressure sensor and all of the internal fuel lines. Around town there is no problem, however any time I get on the highway for more than 2hrs, I find my self on the side of the road. The neck of the fuel pump is always the reason. I love the car, but Im out of ideas. Is anyone remotely even familiar with a problem like this?

wow, that's not good is it. Can you help us understand exactly what happens to make you be on the side of the road? What do yo mean its always the neck of the fuel pump? does it crack, get blocked? or what?
What does the MB area service support manager say about this problem? Does he have other same cars with this same issue?

sounds like a ground issue. You should save the burned out pump next time and test it to see where its getting burned out at. If its a electrical problem its a ground for sure.

the wiring is probably getting shorted somewhere.

Besides being a shorted wire, any chance the pump is getting air in it and buring it up that way?

Could be the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. I'd test that one, if it isn't working it could cause your other one to keep burning up. If it is bad, you can't replace it, you'll need a whole fuel tank. Only FI AMG's have in tank fuel pumps, making the fuel tanks rare. If you need a used FI AMG fuel tank, I have one out of a low mileage 2004 S55.

Actually I'm not sure if mine will fit. Your S65 is a 2007 meaning it's a 221 chassis, not 220.

Did anyone ever find a fix for this? Currently chasing a similar issue.

So I got this code. Replaced the fuel pump and filter. Car ran fine afterward. Drove the car a second time the next day after the replacement and then parked. When I came back out car wouldn't start. Engine turns over but no fuel being supplied. Did my band new pump fail after one drive? I'll be digging into it again this weekend.

Well that has to be exasperating.

Report back with findings.
