Hi All,
My car developed this weird phenomenon the other day - smart key stopped working. Put key in ignition and would not turn. Left it there for about 5 minutes, then car recognized the key and started. Problem happens everyday first thing in the morning... Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the car to recognize the key, other times it can take a couple of hours. I've replaced the battery in the key and the car, problem still persists. Any ideas as to what the problem is?
thanks...

Doing a search I found this reply on a thread on the Benzworld forum:
"have read someone stuck a pen ball point pen in the "red glass" on the ignition switch that allowed better reception from the smart key/ fob. I have not tryed but if anyone with the same problems has had success then maybe its worth the try??? I also read someone spraying ignition with w-40 and another with crc electrical cleaner??? I really dont know if i would try that either. I Hope this thread help someone else with like issues. Thanks again".
