My New Car and Need Some Easy Answers
My car has factory navigation, and CD changer.
I am down to one last area of concern that I need advice on. The stereo's soft key buttons do not work properly. Namely the one I need to push to set the time. All else functions correctly. So I pulled the head unit out, dis-assembled it to the point of looking at the contacts of the softkeys and deciding there was no problem with those that I could see. So I put it back together determining it was likely a problem I am not qualified to fix.
The other side to this is I want iPod connectivity and know that I can put a Denison unit in to accomplish this. I hesitate to do this based on concern above.
My question thus is, how to go about fixing the head unit. So that I can be confident in also using the Denison unit. $?

Based on cost, replace the head unit with aftermarket. I've read much about this, and lack clarity on what I will be able to maintain and what I will sacrifice. The only item I concerned about losing is the steering wheel controls and voice commands. All other items are fair game to loose, based on what I anticipate gaining through a replacement.
Long story short, I really want to fix my factory head unit and add the Denison unit to it unless cost goes crazy. Help me please
.
