2001 s500 airmatic issue

Hello everyone
I know there is so much written about this common issue but it seems like everyone has different details about it so i want to ask for help.
OK so while driving the ride became very stiff and the white "airmatic visit workshop " showed up. After i turned off the car on the next day the message was gone for the day and ever since i have the message back on and the suspension is stiff as before. I checked all the airmatic fuses at the driver's side and passenger's side /F9, F32, F46/ and they all looked good and i still replaced them with the spare ones in the trunk. I read about changing the relay with hella and when i looked at the passenger's side fuse box i saw that mine was already changed by the previous owner. All that airmatic error came up about a week after i changed my rims and tires to e55 amg wheels/ 18x8.5 offset 38/ and snow tires 245/40/18. Before i had my staggered 255/45/18 in the back with offset 42. I changed the rims myself using the jack lifting the car up one at time. I don't know if any of these is connected but i thought its good to mention. The car has 135K.

How does the car acts?
Stiff with the airmatic message on, the car raises when i press the button for about 15-20 seconds and it stays raised. I can hear the pump coming up when i start the car. The car has never been low or message car too low never came up.
No matter what rims i had on the car the front was a little bit higher then the back. I heard that that could be a calibration fix at mb dealership but never bothered me that much before. The hight of the tires was 45 before and with the new rims is 40 now.

I will be moving out of us in about two months and i need to split up with my S500 so i really don't feel like spending a lot of money for pump and dealers.
Can anyone identify the problem and help with suggestions please?

Thank you for your time

After reading varoius posts on this form, I decided to investigate the problem.I raised the car up in the rear (jack stands), removed height sensor plug/connector, lubricated connector plug with connector grease, reinstalled connector, lower vehicle, no result.
I raised the car up in the front (jack stands), removed height sensor plug/connector, lubricated connector plug with connector grease, reinstalled connector, lower vehicle, Result was satifactory. The Airmatic visit workshop message gone.

One of the connector plug was not making good contact with its pins.

Test drove car. Very quiet! Stiffness, bumps, road noise gone. I had to take it thorough the car wash today. Clean and quiet again.

The connector/plug harness can be hard to pull out. Have to press on tabs and pull. Should click when pushed all the way back in.
