Stuck in PARK

I know this has been beat to death on other threads, but this is a little different. I have torn apart the center console and found that the plastic piece inside there is NOT broke.......no I'm at a lose. Could it be the solenoid that accuates that piece? Or could it be the brake system to send the signal to the shifter box? Is it the shifter box itself? Any help would be appreciated.

I dont suppose you managed to resolve this have you?

In the last few weeks iv noticed mine is doing the same thing. I put my foot on the brake pedal, sometimes i hear a little "click" under the gear shift lever and sometimes i dont, but most of the time it wont come out of "P". It seems to be getting harder and harder to get it out of PARK everyday.

The real noticeable thing is that when i put my foot on the brake pedal it doesnt always seem to click under the lever, and so far it does eventually come out of PARK, so what ever it is, its intermittent . . . . for now.

I was out of town on Friday and it kept getting stuck in P as usual. Would take me 5 minutes or so of persuasion to get her to drive.

Finally came home in the evening, parked her up and went out half an hour later to get something. It took me nearly half an hour of not so gentle persuasion to get her out of P this time and and i thought how lucky that it happened right outside home rather than out of town.

Anyways, managed to strip the centre console, get to the little plastic piece and saw there was a slight crack in it which seems to have been getting worse. Finally removed it and hey presto, runs normal again. True that it comes out of P without having to press the brake pedal but with the amount iv been struggling over the last few weeks i couldnt give a crap about that.

Same thing happened to me and it sucks! Slight crack , hard to see but enough to ge the shifter stuck. I took mine out but then lost the park lock feature. I bought another shifter on ebay and going to install that , so I have all my stock features back.
