S65 coming!
My dealer just confirmed spring availability of S65 in late spring 2004.....here in the U.S.......hmmmmm

Seems to me with the price tag of aprox 200k, not a huge difference in the 0-60 time, and the heaver front end which I would think would not handle as well as the S55, is it worth the extra $s? I do like the 19 inch wheels and would think about putting them on my S55 if they do end up looking like the ones in the pictures.
"Starting from December 2003 one receives 65 AMG (196,360 EUR) and the CL 65 AMG (201,260 EUR) to S. The capacity of the V12 Biturbo was extended to 6,0 litres. It carries 612 HP and 1000 Nm out, which had to be limited due to the AMG speed SHIFT mechanism of 1200 to 1000 Nm. The load pressure besides on 1,5 bar was increased. The two new AMG models are delivered with new ABC a AMG tuning and offer in series 19 tariff of wheels of the dimension 245er in front and 275er in the back. The AMG styling is just as standard as the exclusive Nappaleder. The road performances of the two models are approximately 13,3s of 0-200 indicated as 4,4s for the Sprint on 100 and. Thus the two 2,7s are slower than the SLR (0-200 in 10,6s). The CL 65 and S 65 are abgeregelt electronically. In Affalterbach with AMG speed limiting can be raised of 250 to 300 km/h. The Tacho goes however to 360 km/h.
Around the series release to received altogether 42 experimental engines on the AMG test stands more than 5500 hours were tested. The construction engine already 2001 had begun in the middle of and developed in 13 months for 12 hand-made prototypes. They were tested on each part of the earth like e.g. in Sweden, South Africa or in the Death Valley in the USA. 5000 km, with the mixed road permanent run in 4 months 120,000 km, became on the test area in Papenburg approximately 30,000 km (in two weeks) on the north loop as well as on the Swabian Alb 25,000 km unwound in 4 weeks.
Also the Mercedes advisor and former DTM points pilot Klaus Ludwig was merged in the test and development work and put some kilometers back on that 12.2 km High speed oval in Papenburg (Mercedes test track in the Ems country). After the test travels it gave the following to minutes: "impressing, with which ease cultivates and as the car with Tacho 260 still on the gas reacted and forward pushes. This superior feeling on the high-speed distance also comes along that all safety-relevant components are well adapted."
