ABC Lowering - What Am I Doing Wrong?
Yesterday, I posted this in the wrong section; belongs here...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trying to lower an '05 S55 with ABC using DAS. I change the height (about 1/2-inch), then input the inclination numbers, and get a message that the numbers have been successfully accepted. Everything looks good. But after a drive around the block, the vehicle height is back to it's original setting. Am I missing a step? Is there something that needs to be done to 'lock' in the new height?
Cheers,
Jeff
Lowering a car equipped with ABC is very hard to do. you have to gradually lower it and save the settings. you cannt lower it 1/2" in one try.
I would recommend using lowering links.
I would recommend using lowering links.
Everyone that tries to lower the car via Star always fails. It eventually resorts back to stock height be it after one drive or a couple of weeks; it will always go back. Either lower it properly using a lowering module or go cheap, pain in the ***, constantly adjusting, not sitting properly Home Depot Links.
I acknowledge the input and comments from my 3 MB colleagues, and thank them for taking time to input. However, the DAS program allows for variations in vehicle height - one can get to the screen that clearly allows +/- variations in each corner's height. I can make the car go all the way to the ground, or elevate it like a skyscraper. MB even discusses such in the attached document. And the document states in the title, Airmatic, ABC, etc. What I find odd is that the adjustments don't seem to hold. Will try again tomorrow, using a couple different variations of this procedure (which I just found today). In the meantime, I appreciate ALL comments and input.
I tried lowering my car that has the ABC suspension with Star and it would not adjust lower than ~1/4" per corner. It kept showing errors for it being out of spec on adjustment or something along those lines. I ended up going back to stock height and using an alternate method for lowering. Good luck.
