Vibration at 60 mph
Whoa!! This vibration at 60 mph was so damn annoying...read on some forums that it might be the tie rods. Ok, so I went 2 the dealer I told him to check my flex disc. Next day they said it was a bad Driveshaft...the u joint was damaged and some rusty bolt was sticking out. Dealer said about 2 grand and some hundreds to replace then he said the driveshaft would have 2 come from Germany. Whoa!!
Went 2 eBay ordered a nice used drive shaft for a buck 40, took it 2 dealer and they charged $465 to put it on. No more vibration!! Oh yeah used the same flex discs that was not worn. Thanks eBay!!

2 Grand wtf!!!! I asked my indie shop at Benz Elite a few weeks ago how much they would charge for that job, they said 800-900 but that would include the two flex discs.
But I'm starting to look for parts on my own now as it seems I can get a lot of parts for cheaper if I just spend a little time looking online and offset warranty money with the OEM parts I find and put that money towards something else.
There's a lot of parts you can find on ebay, online vendors or even those Mercedes Benz part stores online which can help you save a few hundred bucks depending on what the part is.

Another question to add to this thread on flex disks...
Is there a difference in flex disks between a non-AMG and an AMG vehicle for the W220 cars?
And is there a bearing somewhere along the drive shaft through which the drive shaft passes that must also be swapped out?
Anybody here have the torque spec for the bolts into the driveshaft/flex disk(s)?
(I realize this is a 7 month old thread but its the only one I found in W220 AMG. Hopefully others will come along some day and can learn from the answers.)
