I'm planning on purchasing a 2012 S63. The one that I'm looking at does not have the Distronic option. I really really want Distronic. I contacted BenzNL but all they said that it would be expensive. Has anyone added this option? How much is it? Parts and labor?

I would advise you to find one with the features you want. It probably will cost thousands to retrofit and the 2012 S63 are not rare cars so you can find another one easily

 

This one has a lot of other options so it's worth it for me to spend money to add Distronic.

 

You can't add Distronic. It comes from the factory that way, not a dealer or owner retrofit option.

I have it but never use it, most useless option on the car.

 

This is not true! Almost everything offered as a factory option can be retrofitted. I have done a few retrofits myself. Like others have said just find one with Distronic. Distronic alone is awesome and add Distronic Plus, it just gets better

The time, headache, and cost of retrofitting will make you wish you bought a car with this option from the beginning

 

I would have to disagree there. I love the distronic feature. I use it on the highway a lot as the car is so smooth that I tend to go over the speed limit by a lot without realizing it. I also love how it comes to a complete stop for itself in traffic, just touch the gas for it to start going again. Its also a gas saver, I used it the other day after a fill up and I averaged 9.8l/100 km....

 

Of course it is a personal preference. I have had cruise control in my car for decades and never use it. In my case, I find it distracting and makes me lazy when I should be paying attention to my driving.

As for Distronic, call me crazy but I don't have the guts to leave it to the car to bring itself to a full stop.

So in my case, this is a wasted feature. Maybe the next owner will use it.

 

Distronic plus is not all about cruise control. It's also about the blind spot detection and other safety features.

 

 

I think it would be cool for the blind spot feature. However I do not care for the look of the sensors on the bumpers. As far as retrofitting that feature I agree you would do yourself a favor to just find a car that already has it. $$$$$$$
