secondary air pump delete?
Whats the purpose of the secondary air pump? Can it be removed permanently without the CHECK ENGINE light? Where can I purchase one used from? Checked mine and it works sometimes but most of the times it doesn't.

The secondary air pump is a motor that starts up when the car is first started and runs for 60 or so seconds to burn excess fuel off until the cats get warmed up. It is part of the emissions system. It is my understanding that you can turn off the code if you have access to the STAR tool but getting someone to do it might be the harder thing. Hope this helps

yes you can do this in STAR but you need the developer mode which dealers do not ordinarily have access to. When you find a friend with dev mode its in the ECU motor module. When secondary air is turned off, your emissions will always be "ready" .
