s55 amg steering wheel shift buttons not working
hi Guys,
I'm new to forum and own a 2004 S55 AMG since June 2014 in Istanbul.
I'll open up a new topic about the mods and restoration process and but need help about steering wheel shift buttons ;
My steering wheel shift buttons wasn't working once I got the car but it wasn't in my priority list so I skipped that for a while. I have purchased new TCU from Shardul with performance software and buttons were still not working. After that I bought C63 AMG steering wheel shifter buttons with adapter but didn't change.
MB service checked both original button, c63 button with adapter, checked steering wheel central connectors etc... but still not working. Star diagnostics shows "kick down" signal once you click on downshift button on steering wheel and upshift doesn't give any signal to the computer.
Service has suggested that maybe the shifter main unit has changed before and the changed unit doesn't support steering wheel buttons.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

there are wires that run from the steering wheel to the shifter assembly. those may not be connected and if they are then the shifter assembly is bad.

Thanks for the advice Shardul. Is it possible to get kick down signal if the wires aren't connected properly ? Is it possible to repair shifter unit or some part of it or need to replace that ?
