I'm told the ignition module goes right along with the coils. It's the reason I didn't buy a 65. I'm also told the W222 improved on both the coils and the module, but we'll see. Apparently heat is the culprit and most people automatically jump to replace coils (over $1k per bank) when it's really the module causing the problems. I have no direct experience with this, thankfully, other than to see 65 after 65 in my mechanic's shop with the same issues (ignition coils and modules, cooked transmissions). Good luck.

I checked the ECI. It gives 220 volts on both sides wich normally is the problem that one side gets to Little. But I will try and replace it anyway since it is only 200$.

Is the ECI the same as the transformer? It's the transformer I'm talking about. It powers the coils on each bank. Seems like it may not be powering one bank.

See, https://mbworld.org/forums/m275-v12-...-diy-help.html

Also, since the transformer works with the crank position sensor (a known problem on these cars), you might check that too. If it's the original CPS, you might swap that on a whim.

Good luck.

It's between the motor and the firewall, at least on W220s. Not sure about on W221s. But I'm not a DIYer so I have no idea how to get back there and change them. I just keep track of the things that may leave me stranded and try to get to them before they get to me. Looks and sounds like your problem is the transformer.

Good luck,

maw
