ABC Malfunction

Hi everyone! today we had a break from the freezing weather, so I decided to take out my s65, after a few miles of driving "ABC Malfunction" popped up. So I turned off the car and started it again and it went away, after driving a few miles it popped up again... and it reset itself the next couple of times that I turned off the car through out the day but came back on after a few miles of driving.

I did some research and everyone that has that message popping up seems to be having some sort of noticeable issue. Everything seems to be working just fine in my car. So I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar with their abc system.

Thank you in advanced!

What color is the error, white/blue, or a red error? Did you check the fluid level? If so what color was the fluid, or the last time you have gave the system a flush?

The error is yellow, I did check the fluid level and it's fine, and fluid looks clean honestly. But I could be completely wrong. It looks yellowy, light greenish. I have some chf 11s and it's dark green, so I don't know if that's what it's supposed to look like when it gets old... I've personally never given the system a flush. I bough the car 2 years ago when it had 117k miles. It has now 128.

If you cannot verify that the car has had an ABC fluid flush, filter and rodeo, I would do that first and now. It's like an oil change, it will never hurt. And at this age and mileage, the fluid is tired, no matter what it looks like. I would have a dealer do it, despite what you'll read here or see on YouTube about how easy it is. My view is the ABC system needs to have dealer hands all over it (until it comes to a pump or a valve, where you can save money on parts). And while they're at it, the can scan codes.

With the car sitting in cold weather, fluid contaminants can settle where they shouldn't, fluid itself contracts from cold, etc., and the above procedure can clear that up. If the problem persists after that, only then would I be concerned about a serious problem.

Good luck,

maw

Your best bet is to take it in and have the ABC system scanned for codes.

I had an intermittent issue, where I would get an ABC malfunction warning, which typically went away after a restart.
Turns out it was a damaged module near the left front shock tower.

Once you begin to see warnings on the ABC system, I am of the opinion that you need to head to the dealer promptly, in order to minimize the risk of much larger problems showing up down the road.
