Mobil 1 New Life
Unfortunately the 0W-40 oil Mobil 1 New Life which was used in all AMG vehicles for years by Mercedes Benz will no longer be produced. It will be replaced by Mobil 1 FS which is, to say the least, complete garbage.
- flash point is down to 226 which is comparable to lower quality base oils
- high temperature viscosity is 12.9 which makes it almost similar to 0W30 oil, there is no protection against thinning with petrol, the lubrication oil film becomes instable in no time and breaks easily.
- HTHS is down to 3.6, again, weak lubrication film during high temperature operation causing high wear

So probably it is best to part ways after all these years and look for an alternative. Does anyone have a recommendation?
