Exhaust options
Hi all
The previous owner of my S65 AMG removed the backboxes.
My exhaust goes Turbos > Cats > X pipe> Tips.
It sounds glorious, but the exhaust noise between 1-2000rpm is ever present in the cabin, until around 45mph. Its not a drone more like a deep V12 exhaust noise.
I have two options, put rear backboxes (mufflers) back in, but finding AMG ones will be difficult and Im worried aftermarket ones wont be quiet.
or
Install /14 wave cancelling resonator tubes like this:
I have measured my drone at 107.9hz which gives a tube length of 84cm with an assumed exhaust gas temp of 80Deg c (at the tip end). The issues with the latter is that it will probably require experimentation with the length, therefore money + time.
Thoughts?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Do your ears ring at night? Lol
Give the pipe a whirl. Easy and inexpensive to weld up.
I'd give it a pair of straight through 'glass packs' to mellow tones.
No mufflers. Anything added will help!
I recall an '08 E-63 that was given headers.... H-Pipe and nothing to the rear of the car. Could hear it from miles away but sounded as NASCAR when he booted it.
