Replacing I/C Pump, Radiator drain
1. clamp off the hoses to the pump.
2. R or R pump and reconnect lines.
3. Remove the Intercooler filler cap at the rear of the engine and find a coke bottle or similar that fits quite tightly when shoved into the opening upside down. And cut out the bottom of the bottle.
4. cut 2 pieces of 3/8 rubber hose about 18+ inches long each
5. Remove the schrader valves from the bleed ports, push the hoses on tightly and run the hoses up and into the coke bottle.
6. Mix your coolant brew, adding one of the coolant enhancers made by various makers if you wish. Living in TX. I used 60% water and 40% antifreeze. I mixed up about a gallon.
7. Get a friend. 4 hands make this easier. fill the bottle with the coolant brew
8. power up IC pump. I used jumper wires for this NOT the factory plug. My motorcycle battery provided the power so the pump would remain running the whole time.
9. Watch the level of the coolant in the bottle and try to keep it from running dry. Watch the bubbles coming from the hoses. Let the pump run. This could take several minutes.
10. Once the bubbles stop QUICKLY get the schrader back in the bleeder ports one at a time. YES it makes a MESS . Have that friend keep slowly pouring the coolant into the bottle while you do this.
11. Once the schrader valves are back in the bleeder ports watch the level of the coolant in the bottle. If it does not change, cycle the pump on and off for about 30 seconds several times. REMOVE the bottle and make another mess. Install cap back in the filler and test drive.
Good luck.
It worked for me!
