Another windshield washer reservoir question

2009 S63 w/ABC

My local independent shop told me I had a seal leaking at the windshield reservoir so I had them replace it.
After I got the car back I looked into the reservoir and I couldn't see any fluid. There is no low fluid message showing.
I called the shop and was told that they purposely don't fill the reservoir above the seal to avoid leaking there.
Does this sound right?

I have the 2005 s55 AMG but I would assume the reservoir can't be that different. Sounds like they just did not want to fill it because they didn't solve the problem. I did some work on my reservoir leaking and I have it filled to the top with no leaks.

Thanks for the reply Rmolter. That's kind of what I was thinking too. I'm disappointed because I really like the idea of taking the car to an independent shop and didn't want to believe that they could have done less than great work on my car.

I'm sure you can find many independent shops that will do good work for you. I'd just call around and find one that might be more honest than them.
