New AMG owner, in drive but shows [P]
Hi guys,
I may just be loosing my mind, but I recently purchased a 2010 S63, 80k miles on it, everything looks pristine, very happy with it. Haven't even put 1k miles on it since I got it.
I drove it around about 2hours, longest driven at once, got home parked it. Went to pull out of the driveway, put it in drive, and it still shows [P] in the middle of the speedometer. I drove to the stop sign, didn't give it much gas, but it stayed there, and had a high pitched wine, like high revs, it seemed like it wasn't in the right gear, I didn't pay attention to the RPMs ( I just woke up from a nap so I wasn't fully alert for these things), but it just didnt seem like the car was switching gears.
Got back home, looked everything up, E-Brake, trans reset, i looked to find anything that was similar to what i could best describe. No luck, the idle even sounded weird when trying that.
Had a mechanic friend come over, he drove it around, accelerated fine and what not, said it meant "performance mode" so correct me if that is wrong, but the box would light up blue for parking assist when we would be driving slow, so i figured that the [P] did actually mean parking...
The [P] goes away once you keep accelerating a bit, but when it first happened, it didn't feel or sound like it normally had before. Maybe i was still a little dazed from just waking up, so either I'm crazy or there's something up. I hadn't noticed previously if that [P] had stayed there until you got to a certain speed/acceleration.
The attached picture shows me in drive not moving, obviously.

Something just doesnt sound or feel right/the same as it did when I was first driving it, maybe im in my head but the low gears just sound rough and not solid, also the start idle before the revs come down sounds different. Something's up, I just don't know where to look.

Nothing wrong there
The car uses the side sensors to find parking spots that are big enough for your car. It will go away when you drive faster then 15mph (or 20...i forgot). When it goes blue it found one that's large enough for your car. If you then turn on the signal and put it in reverse it will show you a graphic that will guide you into the spot.
