Nice!!! How does she drive with the new mods and did DTK tune it as well? How's the fit on the heat exchanger, does it mount to the bumper crash bar ( I only see a single tab) and were you able to retain the oil cooler.

Haven't driven the car yet since I havent recieved the tune at this time, and yes DTK is who I'm going thru for the tune, cooler mounts to the inside bumper bolts, I'll also be adding a couple fans to it to help with temps at idle since I did go fixed pulley, and my particular S55 doesn't have the oilcooler under the heatexchanger

So got a race IQ tune I will compare both raceIQ and DTK and let you guys know which tune I prefer, right now have the RaceIQ tune flashed and let me tell you the pulley makes this thing feel like a completely different car

Some members on the forum refer to it as an oil cooler, MB describes it as a lower charge cooler - in which seems to be a small secondary heat exchanger as it looks to be looped to the IC pump. I do particularly favor your HE, I like the design of the ports on each side, On my buddy's S55, we installed the Eurocharged unit and modifications were needed due to both ports being on one side the top port interfered with the mounting bracket on the crash bar and the inner bumper had to be shimmed to fit. Great idea on the HE fans, I recall reading on the E55 forum section someone integrating a pair of fans. I have been using the infamous - 10 mod (set at 7).

Running the Race IQ canned tune as well on my 80 FSP and previous 83 clutched. Tony's tune has been spot on, but some rare occasions after sitting for a few days the first cold start will require a second attempt and I've tried using the resistor vs none...no difference, but replacing the fuel pump and filter has helped. I very much agree with you, the pulley and tune combo really wakes up the 4400 lbs vehicle. The BWK with a heavy duty belt is a must too, I don't see myself every going back to a clutched setup - the FSP is too much fun!!

So what's take on the Race IQ vs DTK tunes?

I did notice the start issue today, havent tested the DTK tune yet since right when I got it my coolant temp sensor decided to take a crap so I'll be trying again shortly to see if there's a difference

Humm, that's interesting. In the past I've had some dialog with the guys on the E55 section about this matter since Tony's tune is heavily used on that platform. It's a hit and miss, some say they've experienced it and others not. Prior to replacing the fuel filter and pump, I found that going through the motions of inserting the key to the number 2 position while momentarily waiting a couple of seconds (as the gauges appear and set) and then proceed to actually start the vehicle has alleviated some.of this problem.

I just find it strange for me cause car sat for a week while I waited for temp sensor and started fine after installing it, car was driven yesterday and this morning when I started it sputtered and then died so had to pull the key and try again started up just fine

Do you have a source for the HE? Maybe even dimensions? I am not trying to buy one from EC, only to modify it. Rather have something straight bolt on

Ahh okay.

If the Heat Exchanger is truly bolt-on, ask your guy if he wants to make another. I will be interested.
