Noise in rear...

So I just noticed when I drive my S63 more then 20 miles when slowing down and going around a corner I hear a growling noise, seems to be coming from the rear, as soon as I shift into 2/3 it goes away, any body ever have this happen?

OP too many possibilities to take the WAG.

Noisy tires happen as they wear.

Brakes on or close to metal can do this.

A rock that gets involved with brake pads can do this.

A wheel bearing can do this.

Wheel bolts that are loose can do this.

Get to checking.

Ok, its not brakes, just replaced, and noise was there before, not tires, its like a pump cavating but in the rear, and not all the time, I'm thinking that it possibly might be the rear accumulator, just curios if this is a tell tale sign.

I think I may have a similar issue on my 65. But I hear it when the engine comes back to idle after a rev or coming to a stop. Like you described it's almost like a pump starving for fluid. But it only lasts for a second. My ABC is working fine. I don't hear the noise when I raise and lower the car, only when the engine is coming back to idle. Let me know if you figure anything out.

This may be a failing pressure dampener that threads into the ABC pump. 20 minute repair. Wash the area it threads into thoroughly before cracking it loose. It holds no pressure with the engine not running. Makes for all manner of creepy growling noises all over the car as it gets worse.

Accumulators are for front and rear ABC. One of them is at left front and threads into the ABC valve block. The other is in the trunk. The dampener I refer to threads into the ABC pump. It has a 19mm head on top of it. Easy enough to see with the driver's side air filter pulled.
