Power steering pulsation damper line interchangeability
I took my car(04 S55) to a mechanic today to investigate a hydraulic fluid leak. He told me that the hose between the pump and socalled pulsation damper is the culprit. However, when I looked up the part number 2203204572, it seems that this item has gone out of production. Here are my questions: can I buy 2203204372, which was used on 01-03 car, instead? What are the differences between these two parts besides that one comes with the damper? Thank you.

There may be others out there for less. But a little leg work and a used OEM part is what I'd be after if I couldn't find a new one. These lines should never break. They only break on cars where the system has not been maintained. Someone will challenge me on this for sure, but I remain unconvinced that these lines go if the system has been maintained.
So the lines in the parts yards are typically just fine.
For a direct answer to your question, I would just call a MB Dealer parts desk. Mostly I use MB Naperville because they're known as one of the best around from the 500E crowd. Also the Classics Center in Irvine. But I know they played around with the pulsation dampers on these cars during the model run, so prior hoses may not work.
