S55. It is basically an E55 with more room. I have a 2002 S55 and love it to death. It is also great for transporting people too. My dad has a 2005 S55 and also loves it. The E55 is very small in the back seats and is the same exact car. Why not go with the S55?

You can't go wrong with either, just pick a size.

2005 S55 AMG
E55 or S55

I own both. I first bought the E55 for my wife as a birthday gift. IT was an impulse drive, after my dealer talked me into test driving it. WHAT A RUSH. I decided to purchase it as my wife's primary car, and my weekend toy. Well after taking ownership, I started feeling a bit cramped, especially with the kids and wife on-board. You see, I am 6'5", 250+ pounds. (Weight depending on if I have cloths on or not . ) I had already owned 2 s class Mercedes prior, s430, and s500. I went into the dealer and ordered a 02 s55. Never drove it, just ordered it. I figured if the E55 was this breath taking when it came to performance, the S55 as got to be better.
I was correct. Now I was the happy owner of a E55 and S55. They analogy I use is the E55 is like a teenager. Raw, unrefined, and full of energy, not always being able to control its behavior. The S55 had a refined rawness. It did everything the E55 did, but smoother, and with more eloquence and class, while accommodating 4 6'+ men.

I now own a 05 S55, and love every minute.

I know I would never have a chance to experience being owners of both E55 and S55. Congratulations to your successful acquisition of these "big toys small toys " , it must have taken a hell of your time and energy ( of course , money too) :p

Lexus
Class line descriptions

Dont flame me for being the messenger

C= cheap mercedes
E= Economy mercedes
S=Superior Superb supreme sensational smashing Mercedes

Mercedes spelled this out for us all. Also did their MSRP stickers.

If you don't need the back seat then get an SL. Don't blame your purchase on the "oversized" S class.

I agree that the Eclass is nowhere near an Accord.

LS430 and a S500

Anyone extensively driven a LS430 and a S500 ? I don't believe they say LS430 can match S500 quality, particularly, the body-built durability after some years of milege?

I also have a LS430.
I do not drive it much, but it is a typical big, lux. Japanese car.
When it comes to a S500 vs. a LS430, it is all about personal preference…do you like German engineering or Japanese engineering.

I prefer German engineering, but the reliability of Japanese.
I went with the LS430 because I only drive it a few times a year, but every time I do go to drive it, I know it will drive and run smooth.
