Parking Brake Malfunction
The car drove fine, but after a stop at a restaurant for about 40 minutes, the car started and got this warning sign on the dash. Emergency brake engages and disengages by pulling the lever just fine and the car drives just fine. But when I engage the HOLD by hard pressing the brake at the stoplight, it also engages the emergency break simultaneously by itself; I can hear it engage, and I have to disengage by pulling the lever and get going Also, it turned off the blind assist option as well.
Could it be a sensor? I doubt the emergency brake lines have any rust or difficulty because I use it every time I park on a flat surface or slope. I was safely able to drive home, ~30 mile drive.
Side question, can the car somehow automatically engage the emergency brake while driving if the sensor or something related to the sensor/brake line is bad? Any info/detail would be great to fix this. Thank you everyone.
I don’t have any “electronic Pbrake” on my ‘03 S55 AMG. There is no connection between the hydraulic brakes and mechanical Pbrake.
