Reading TPMS Date Codes
Now I'm shopping for new TPMS sensors, and I was interested in reading the date codes on the packaging of new sensors which people are selling on Ebay. I saw one box say "Best if Installed by 2023-03-04, yet most are in plastic bags, and have an unexplanatory number sequence "11.10.20" on the bottom of the package's label.
Google says that the date code is a four digit number sequence, such as the first week in February 2006, would be "0605" signifying the last two digits of the year, followed by the week of that year, I suspect that this may be within a longer sequence of digits, as I too can't seem to make sense of this. They also said that there is a way for the MFG to decode the ID code to determine when it was made. I want to buy OEM, but at a fair price, and asap, and also be confident that the batteries are not dead from sitting on a shelf for a decade or more.
I am ready to spring for new tires, with several alternate suppliers. I spoke with one place that includes a full install (with new TPMS seals) with the purchase of a full set of tires. I had already bought a cheap set of after-market sensors that I guess I'm going to return, because he said that they will only replace sensors with either OEM sensors which I provide, or the sensors that they provide at $45 each. Good luck to both of us...I hope.
