Hi - The 6-spoke wheels above were a concept wheel from our designer. Development has progressed since the original post. We have a few options available for true carbon fiber performance wheels which are outlined below.
1) Carbon Fiber Hybrid Forged 1-Piece: This uses a forged aluminum wheel as a frame with structural carbon fiber covering the whole face and even barrel if you want. Other wheel brands use a cosmetic carbon overlay, but we use a structural molded carbon fiber overlay to increase the wheels strength and reduce weight.
2) Composite Barrel 2-Piece: These just passed TUV testing. The barrel is 100% carbon fiber and the center is forged aluminum. Weight savings are about 40% lighter than a forged wheel with an aluminum barrel.
3) Forged Composite 3-Piece: Lamborghini originally developed forged composites as a carbon fiber to replace complex aluminium parts. It doesn't look like traditional carbon fiber, because it is made by mixing non directional carbon fiber strands with super strong resin, and then compression molding it in a 200 ton press. Traditional carbon fiber has very high strength to weight ratio, but its strength is directional; Meaning it is much stronger being pulled in one direction, than being pressed or torqued. But a wheel must withstand forces in multiple directions. Koncept Cars' forged composite center can handle multi directional forces because the carbon fiber strands are also multi directional, formed in a 200 ton press, giving greater compression strength than traditional carbon fiber.
