This car is too technologically advanced to not have a great solution for the phone.

Nobody wan't to commit to phone-specific docks anymore since connectors and form factors change too much. Btw, the docks for all car manufacturers are made by a single company (Peikert).
In Europe, Mercedes has a universal dock as part of their telephone package. BMW and others use induction pads. Not my taste as those require a special iPhone case to work.
