Anyone removed the resonator?
I traded in my C63 507 for the S63 and I absolutely love the S but I do miss that growl of the big 6.2. On the C63 I cut out the resonator in favor of a straight through and the bark on start up and hard acceleration was probably my favorite sounding car I've ever had but under normal driving conditions there was actually no difference at all in the sound of the car. If I could get that same effect from the S63 just by removing the resonator I'd be thrilled but I'd hate to make it too obnoxious at cruising and regular driving speeds. There are a few videos on YouTube but the mic quality is pretty poor. Anyone done it yet?

Not sure at all what you are suggesting fits with this model's persona. However if you must I suggest you get electric cut outs...with a push of a button you go from stock to bonkers and back again. They cost roughly $450 not including installation. Have had them on my rods and muscle cars and they not only work great but are great fun. Car is stock when driving the wife and kids, cruising or not wanting to get neighbors or mother-in-law upset. But when a guy in a hopped up Mustang pulls next to you at a light and revs his 302 to the redline you just push a button and not only does the sound blow him away but the earth shakes. He either takes off like a bat out of hell or limps away...either way its great fun for you and doesn't put your license at risk.

Ive pulled the resonator on all my M157's; you get that added grunt under load but you still don't kill yourself with drone at cruising rpms.
Its a very easy job costing maybe 100-150 dollars max and can be reversible for the same amount. Ive always felt the M157 had some really nice throatiness to it but I found myself wanting more and absent of a complete system swap or down pipe install, the resonator removal is a great low cost option. Id like to say you get about a 15-20% bump in sound under load and higher rpm conditions.

Go to the W218 AMG section here-- search for "resonator" and baaaaaam you will see a lot on that subject. And I ever get an S63-C I will be heading over to my local shop for sure.

So as it turns out, the resonators on the S63 are already straight pipes lol! I went to my shop today and we started knocking around on them and they sounded hollow already. Cut one off to have a look and sure enough it's just a can sitting on a straight pipe haha! We went ahead and welded up a couple straight pipes but as expected it's exactly the same.
