Hissing Noise Behind the Instrument Cluster Display

Hi everyone, I get a noise behind my instrument cluster display once in while when I drive that has a similar noise to hissing sound from a speaker in my S63 Coupe. When I put a little pressure on the top of the dashboard the noise disappears and comes back when I let go. The dealer stated that it is a fan behind the display to cool it down when the display heats up. I don't believe that Mercedes would create something in the car that would make noise in this car and it does not sound like a rotating fan. Has anyone else had this problem and gotten it fixed?

I have a 2011 W221 S63 and I started hearing the same noise but could not figure out where it was coming from to save my life. I knew it sounded like it was coming from the instrument cluster and after troubleshooting the noise, I did find that the noise was coming from a fan used to cool down the display. Just like you I could not believe that Mercedes would put a noisy fan in an S Class considering they are known for a quiet ride. I was a bit disappointed, however, I have grown to live with it because I can only hear it if I have everything off and it is very quiet in the cabin. I have gone to the dealer and of course they told me it was the fan and everything is normal.

There is a cooling vent located directly under the command screen (you can see it), when the AC is on you can actually feel the cold air come up through the vent. I don't hear anything in my coupe and MB designed it to be one of the quietest interiors for a production car so I doubt it was engineered to be noisy. Perhaps something is partially blocking the vent creating an increase of velocity of air therefore causing noise?

Hope this helps
