Hey guys,

My '17 S63 coupe arrived and the dealer said that it needs a running in procedure of almost 2000miles but he wasn't sure. Can someone help me with a precise information?

Thanks

Your manual should have information on this. In general, you want to drive the vehicle gently for at least 1K miles:
- don't load the engine very much, but ...
- don't lug the engine
- don't run the engine at higher (top 1/3) revs
- don't run for long distances at the same speed (i.e., don't do a long highway drive for break-in miles)
i.e., the idea is to gently be running the drivetrain up 'n down through it's gears and lower speed ranges. Limit it more for the first 350 miles, or so,

Don't believe people who tell you that you don't need to do this ... breaking in a powertrain is always better than not doing so. Believe Mercedes/AMG, they actually know what they're talking about in the manual.

Expect lower fuel consumption, initially, while the powertrain is running in. Also expect higher oil consumption. These are normal.

Break-in driving is a good time to "play" with things your car has/does (other than low 0-100 times!) so you learn about them. Read the manual. Try out various settings. See what you like and how you want your vehicle configured. It's also a time when you should be paying attention to how your new vehicle sounds and operates so you learn about its baseline characteristics. This knowledge is good for future reference as the car ages.

FYI, here's what the the 2017 C-class manual has on break-in:

Many thanks sir!

English is not my first language, sorry. After the 1500km running in procedure do i also have to change the engine oil? Or just the rear diff one at 3000km?

General AMG break-in period rules for first 1,000 miles are: <85 MPH, vary speed, no full throttle, <4,500 RPM, no engine braking.
No need to change the engine oil until COMAND says to.
