Coupe missing the Extending/retracting the seat belt extender

When I picked up the coupe, I sat for a few moments just taking in the look and feel. Like folks here said, I reached for the none existent button for extending/retracting the seat belt extender. I added the red and bold fonts.

I started reading the owner's guide today and ran into this interesting section (page 38):
"Mercedes-AMG vehicles: observe the notes in the Supplement. Otherwise, you may fail to recognize dangers. The seat belt extender button is not available in Mercedes-AMG vehicles.".

They don't explain why, but I'll check out the Supplement doc later to see why the took that irrational steps. I used this function almost daily on my MY17, and nothing bad ever happened. Anyway, I thought you'd find it interesting that it was done on purpose and only on our AMGs.

Just a poorly thought out decision by AMG when removing the buttons in between the screens and repurposing others. It was moved onto the driver assist panel for the S560 but got deleted on the S63.

The extender is definitely still there, just the button to activate it on demand is gone. You can trigger it by opening then closing the door, not ideal but it works.

If only it was possible to reprogram some of the otherwise not very useful buttons...

Thanks guys and I wish there was! Maybe setting it as a favorite or some such. A silly decision indeed - too bad.

Indeed a strange decision, but has to do with a lot of extra buttons on the middle console (like exhaust, manual mode, etc), compared to a non-AMG model.
Same for passenger seat adjustment button: not there anymore also on AMG models.

And wait until you experience the annoying downgrade from COMAND 5*2 to 5*5 where it concerns the (not so much) online functions of it.............

See other threads about these crazy changes in the facelift model .............but happily engine, transmission and exhaust note make up for it!

I bet with the correct hardware and software interface, buttons could be reprogrammed - they are certainly interfaced to the car computer rather than directly wired to their target. Probably could even get replacement button keys to reflect the repurposed functions.
