2020 S63 AMG Won't Start Intermittently
He unlocks car
Pushes the start button
Makes one click noise
Won't start
Displays show, ac on low, but car won't start.
He gets out, locks car and if he waits an hour, it will start.
Happened twice. Took it to local dealer, they said battery, alternator and starter were all fine. They said they can do a deep dive for several weeks, but that sounds vague and clueless. To me, someone on this forum will be able to diagnose the issue. He said it doesn't make the standard alternator type noise not working. Just one click and nothing.
He tried getting out, locking car and attempting again after 20 minutes, but didn't not start. Somehow an hour was the magic number. Could this be something related to the master computer? Equivalent to like PCM on a Porsche that has to completely power down to reset. Just trying to help my friend since the dealer seems clueless...
why is this vague and clueless? If they are a competent dealer which they likely are they understand these type of issues are difficult to replicate. They recognize it seems the concern and offered to keep searching. The data you offered is pretty limited and they actually had the car and tested things and scanned it with their computer.
did he own this car since new?
did it just start doing this?
any mods to the car?
when was the battery replaced and if not replaced when was it last load tested?
what codes were pulled?
any dash error messages regarding the keyfob?
when was the keyfob battery replaced?
is the brake switch bad? The brake needs to be depressed to start the car beyond accessory or ON mode
did dealer replicate this? If so what was their specific comment?
what did they test specifically?
once he starts it "after an hour" it's good for the rest of the day or until when?
it would seem to me if they kept the car and replicated the problem they would have more of an idea on how to repair
good luck ... to your friend

my issue is after driving and I stop, when I try to start it again it won’t start. The radio & everything good but engine won’t start. Wait for like 15mins. Then it’s ready to move, like it’s cooling it self down. Frustrating for this type of car
