2020 S63 Amg sometimes won't start

Hey everyone, very excited to join this forum. I bought my dream car, 2020 S63 AMG about 8 months ago.

Although it's had it's issues, I still do love the car.

Though one of the issues is becoming more of a nuisance and was hoping to get some help here.

Periodically the engine won't turn over. Now this has happened 3 times in the last 8 months. The first time I was stuck, I called Mercedes Me said it could be a key fob battery issue. Luckily I was near a mall so I ran inside, changed the key fob battery and it worked! Then a few months later, same thing happened. While I thought that the key fob battery couldn't have died in a few months, I still uber'd to the nearest Mercedes, got my fob battery changed, uber'd back and it worked! Then a few months go by, and the exact same thing happened yesterday. But this time I was in my driveway and I tried both keys and it still wouldn't turn over.

I can unlock, lock the car. I can listen to the radio, use the bluetooth etc. But the engine won't turn on.

It's very frustrating especially because I need my car to drive meeting to meeting. I've been really fortunate it hasn't shut down in between meetings, and I'm hoping to avoid that.

This Friday, I have an appointment with the local Mercedes dealership to run diagnostics and hopefully get it looked at. They're not sure they'll be able to solve the problem.

So I was hoping to get some advice or guidance, especially if anyone else has faced this issue in the past and you may know what's causing it.

I really appreciate any help!

Thank you.

Don't remember experiencing such an issue but hopefully it's a programming issue.

Hopefully MB gets in the car and it doesn’t start for them.

Intermittent issues are the most frustrating for you and the tech.

We want to help but if the car doesn’t have a record of why it didn’t start the tech is left with “this is the most common failure for what you describe.”

Not a wild guess; but when the car is misbehaving for the dealer the tech will be able to follow what is not happening to something that looks more as a certain diagnosis.

If you are not driving regularly make sure the 12V battery is being charged with the supplied or lithium capable charger.

Trying to understand exactly what the problem is. When you say "Periodically the engine won't turn over. Now this has happened 3 times in the last 8 months." I assume you mean that you're pressing the start button and the car won't even try to start, almost as if nothing is happening. If that's what you mean then the answer lies in the car's communication. Something is telling the car that it is not ready to start. It could be something as simple as the brake pedal module not telling the computer that your foot is on the brake. This has happened probably 5-10 times in the 18 months since I've had my 18 S63. I can get it start by unbuckling my seatbelt and/or open the door, then try the start sequence again. Just remember if it doesn't start on the first button push, the next button push is turning the car off, then the 3rd button push will be the "start" button push. Be sure you're in the right sequence of button pushes when applying the brake pedal. Also, are the dash lights changing as you're pushing the button like normal? Mine do, except the car won't start, until I start the sequence all over again.
