Window seal hack

My S63 coupe (2015) / about 100000km had the common issue where the window seal between the rear quarter windows and the front-side windows have small tears.
This resulted in annoying wind-noise above 100km/h (60mph)

So I ordered new ones from Mercedes and fitted them. To my disappointment it did not completely solve the issue.
One thing I noticed on the drivers side is that the rear quarter window did not sit as tight against the front windows as on the passenger side (where there was no wind noise).

I know its posible to re-align the windows, but I suspect that the drivers side window (rear quarter) gets pushed in a lot when you are trying to get out of tight parking spaces.
The gap was very small, but big enough to cause the noise.

So I decided to try a little experiment and I took a thin black wire and pushed it in betwee the rear-quarter seal.
You can hardly see it but it works perfectly. No more wind noise. 5 minute job.

Will post some pictures soon

cheers

Where did you put the wire?

I like the fact that you figured it out. Now, please describe the solution so that somebody else can actually understand it.

You put a wire between the rear seal? Between the seal and what? The glass?

Does the wire push the seal into the front glass or does it push the seal out against the front glass.

picture would be great since I suspect this is a common issue and your hack could be quite valuable
thanks

Ok here are some pictures.

The process is really simple.
Open the windows just a little bit.
Pull back the seal on the quarter window and push in the wire all the way from top till bottom.
Make sure you use a black wire, not too thick. If done correctly you can hardly see it, but you will notice that it will push the seal further agains the large window, and eliminate wind noise.

I had the same wind noise issue when I purchased my CPO 2016. I replaced both sides as they were torn, and that resolved my wind noise.
