I only went to look at a 2018 S63 2day and... bought it - Designo Grey/Blk

Supposed to pick my car up today, so I would love to hear your impressions now that you have some miles on it. Also, were you able to get a decent discount off MSRP?
I appreciate the help.
Thank you!

5.7% off if my math is correct. Since it's the only Designo Grey S63 for sale in the US, and maybe the only 2018 made in this color, I didn't exactly have any bargaining chips and I really wanted this dark grey color as I had it on my 2012 and found it to be stealthy without being boring.
Impressions on the car? It's taken 10X longer to figure stuff out on it than I thought, I haven't learned everything yet, and haven't cracked the manual yet either or had my salesman show me anything. He's going over the features of the car in 2 weeks with me so I can come up with questions between now and then.
The map compartment in the doors is really by biggest issue with the car so far - it's so far front and stupidly small and hard to access that I can't reach anything easily in it without really stretching my body to grab something - so dumb (compared to my 2012 where it was directly where my hand fell down into it - makes no sense to have them like this but the High End Burmeister system takes room away from everywhere in the car you'd want room). The compartment in between the seats is so miserably small to be laughable, I can only fit my sunglasses in there, there isn't even a sunglass holder up top due to the Burmeister high end stereo, as I've said before the trunk won't even hold 4 large back packs and some supplies like my old car did due to the Burmeister High End Stereo so I can't go backpacking with 3 friends and me be the one that drives anymore.
Just to put air on my feet or change the climate control the controls are buried deeply with a convoluted system, not like my 2012 which was easily useable from buttons on the dash.
But in the end, who cares? The rest of this car totally freakin' ROCKS and I MUCH prefer it's interior and exterior styling to the BMW M760i I looked at for $14k less in comparison that was $184k down to $164k. In the end, I'll get used to all the compromises in this new car and I bought a 10/100 mi year warranty yesterday (FIDELITY PLATINUM) which only cost me $1395 including it covering the NAV unit for 10 years/100k since I had money left on my old Fidelity Warranty so... guess I'll be driving it for ... 10 years or 100k!
YAY! Grateful as heck.
Steve

Drove mine home today...all smiles.
I agree with pretty much everything above.
What I was shown or have figured out on the system works great though...just not initially intuitive.
If storage space and the menu clicks are the biggest issues with this ride, I am good with that.
Overall I would say 9.9 out of 10, and that is during the break in period.
Can’t wait for work tomorrow
Very grateful.

General update. It will cost $9124 to get the 5 split spoke new AMG wheels from my dealer (and that's at a discount of 10%!) so it looks like I'll be just keeping these for now. Oh well... sometimes in life, you're not always supposed to get exactly what you want.
This will have to do for a while instead...

If you like to let your already unicorn stand out, I suggest going with aftermarket wheel. Better prices, LIGHTER and looks better than OEM. Take a look at HRE P104 with 22". Look them up, you will be pleased with the outcome.

Thanks for the reply. If I could find a wheel I like better than the stock split 5 I would certainly consider it. The P104's look like great wheels, but I only want 20" on my S63, not 21 or 22. The roads in this area are horrible (Washington DC and the DC Metro area - potholes EVERYWHERE). Plus, this look is too aggressive looking for my conservative tastes
Nice wheels, but not loving it for my car... the 104
the 103 on a MB is nice too, but I need 20's. Not enough sidewall on the 22's for me and too many spokes to clean. I love the simplicity of the 5 spoke stock wheel.

Both the P103's and P104's are available in 20" sizing. These are custom built wheels - the sizing and finish is up to you.

Horse - great looking car. I'm guessing your tires are from the factory, right? I'm surprised (about time) that MB is finally ditching the Conti's for Michelin's every now and then.

I was all set to go there tomorrow to have it done till I went to my original dealer today and they connected me with a different guy that does McLarens and all their high end cars for $1450 instead and he said he never damages the badges and if he does, HE will buy me new ones! Great deal so I'm going for it. He comes to your house and does it in your own garage. He said it's like $650 more for some sort of glass or ceramic finish and total cleaning including clay bar (hope I got all that right) but I'm not doing that I don't think.
How did the xpel and ceramic finish turn out? I live in the Northern VA and am looking to get my car done, can you share the installers info?

He also does clearbra work for Europros in Gaithersburg and came to my parking lot at work 3 years ago to do it for me on part of my Porsche where it came off since I slightly curbed the bumper. I thought I recognized him when he showed up and realized I did.

Congrats on a beautiful car.
The Stealie is a very nice touch
I think you already did it but yes to Xpel, yes to Ceramic coating, definitely not to Fidelity extended warranty - shop the MB extended around if you really think this is a forever car. I'm not sure but if they're transferable, even better if/when you go to sell. Maintain religiously, and if you get into it, 5k oil changes, keep ALL the records every one and who knows 5-7 years from now you could still get top dollar for it.

Incredible build, sir! Way to go. Be grateful you got the all leather steering wheel as well, much nicer than the microfiber/leather one for sure. Great stealthy color, too. Doesn't scream out ....

Thank you for the info. I have heard that Shy does great work on other forums, will be giving him a call.
