2018 S63
2018 s63 amg suspension

HI,

I’am currenty driving the new 2018 s63 Amg.

the ride to be honest is horrible, not as comfortable as I expected. I tooked it the dealer thinking that my suspension has problems. But they told me that it is normal for the AMG to be riding hard.

now the question is:

Can I somehow replace my suspension with the normal s560 or s400??

Is there any way to make my car ride more smoothly.

I don’t mind spending more as a comfortable ride is key.

also, can I remove the speed limiter without loosing the warranty as my dealer don’t offer this option.

Thank you

The S63 has the most comfortable suspension out of the entire AMG line, but the answer to your question is that unfortunately is no.

Where do you plan on driving the 2018 S63 and the reason I asked is because it tops out at 193mph and you still want to remove the speed limiter?

Enjoy the S63 as it is as good as it gets.

Thanks for the reply 888,

I have a feeling that my 63 has bad factory suspension, everywhere I read it says The car is on the comfortable side. But mine is bumpy It feels like I am rding a horse 😂. I wish there is a way to know for sure, is this is the how the car spouse to be or mine has a problem. As it is rare to find a car like ours to compare. And I don’t trust the dealer as they say nothing is wrong. As for the limiter mine stop at 165 mph.

once again thank you for the reply

Check if your car has run flats, they cause the ride to deteriorate vs regular tires.

Where are you located and what are the conditions

of your local roads -

I would re-check your tyre pressure -

As S63AMG888 stated above

"The S63 has the most comfortable suspension out of the entire AMG line" -

I would also consider taking the S63 to an alignment shop that uses

weights to replicate the drivers weight ( plus possible passengers weight )

when doing the alignment

and also have the wheels / tyres re-balanced -

I have a friend who was having ride problems with his new E63 -

It turned out one of the tyres was out of round and replaced and

his E63 now rides like it should -

Thank-You
D.B.

For a +180k car, something is not right if you feel like your riding on a horse. The S63 is the largest AMG car available make and it should be the most comfortable Mercedes you’ve ever rode in. As members have suggested, have the wheels, tires and alignment checked because something is off.

If your dealer where you bought it from doesn’t have another S63 for you to test, find another that does even if it means driving 100-200 miles to test it.

As for your top speed, don’t know where your testing it at, but if you have the road and safety to test it and it doesn’t go pass 190mph, make a video if you can and bring it up with your dealer AND MBusa ( if your in the US ).

Best set of luck.

I just wanted to chime in and also say that my S63 is so smooth, smooth as silk. Definitely drive far to test drive another if you have to. You'll see that there must be something wrong with your car. Did you have the general manager of the dealership get involved in this? You might have to go to the very top. You spent a fortune on this car, it should drive perfectly like mine does. I do wish my car wasn't in the shop again... for 3 weeks this time, for a check engine light misfire issue but it is what it is. I will always love this car, especially, when I get to turn this lovely white E300 courtesy car back in and get my S back.

Yesterday I noticed that my rear left suspension is lower to the ground than the other rear side. Now I am sure my car is not normal to be that stiff. I will take it to the management. as like you I have worked hard to get this car. I hope we both soon enjoy our cars as we should.

I have a 2018 S63 and live in NY. Well at least when not away for work. My car is pretty smooth and I deal with rentals all the time. It is an AMG , so it won’t be as smooth as a s560 but in comfort mode or sport it’s great. When I hit a decent size bump or something it does go right through you but on a decent road it’s very smooth. Smoother then most cars.

regarding the missfire, they did a software update and mine was fixed.

I would suggest you look into your local lemon law or contact MBusa for buyback if your S63 has been in the shop for more than 3 weeks.

Your 2018 S63 share the same engine and transmission used on the W213 E63s. Read up, it might help:

E-Class
I share op's feeling in that the s63 ride is pretty horrible. The 2018 E300 loaner ride was much more quiet and boring but was damn smooth. Its expected though, sports suspension vs non-amg car. I don't think anything is broken on my car though. Plan of adjustment is changing to new michelin tires, lower psi, alignment.

2016 Mercedes S63 4matic sedan
When we took possession of our 2016 S63 4matic sedan, I was keeping the tire pressures at what the tire card says on the gas door. Was Getting horrible wear. I also found that there was a service bulletin for some S classes left the factory with the wrong alignment settings. Had car aligned, switched tires over to Michelin tires. Currently running Michelin Pilot Sport 3 stock sizes. Night and day difference from the Continental's. The Continental's were absolutely horrible. I also talked to the tech at my local dealer. They said the card is way way to high. They like setting them to 40psi. I took it a step further and run 35psi all around. So far ride is awesome, the Michelins are awesome, and the wear so far so good. On all of my other vehicles, the tires are set to what the tire card says.

The sport 3s are great. For some reason I decided to try the 4s on mine not nearly as good of a ride and much louder. Handling was a little stickier but not worth it over the decline in ride

My car has finally feels much better now, I had to get manager involved and they have finally realized that there is a problem.

it turned out that the car had faulty alignment. they did an electronic suspension alignment. (just a computer program)

to be on the safe side I did a wheel and tire alignment as well, reduced the tire air pressure.

feels much better now.

thanks guys

Good to know you got it squared away. Curious what caused the electronics suspension alignment get out of alignment, was it a hardware or software thing?

What PSI are you running now?

Not sure what caused it, they did not change any hardware just a program. I am running cold 35 psi now.
