Battery- $2,000?
Hi, thank you for reading. I have a 2015 S63 sedan. My local Mercedes dealer mentioned casually that the battery on this car is $2,000. When I looked up the battery online, it looks like I could buy it for about $200-$300.
Does anybody have any experience with having these batteries changed by a non-Mercedes dealer? I think it is in the trunk? My battery is testing just fine right now, I am just thinking down the road. Thank you so much for your time.

If your under warranty or CPO warranty, call Mercedes road side assistance and if the battery is dead or needs a jump, they can either give you a jump or replace the battery for FREE.

There must have been a misunderstanding. A battery could of course NEVER cost this much unless it's on a new Bugatti.

Actually it can be that expensive.. It is a lithium ion battery.. NOT a standard battery...It saves about 44lbs over the standard battery. A quick google search comes up and the part costs 1896.00 msrp is 2370 but it is for a 2017. Actually learned about it yesterday as my father just got his 2019 s63 sedan delivered and i went with him to go get it.

That's cheap!!! to replace it on a Mclaren P1 it's around $50-60k.. once it goes dead it's toast... I am actually pretty shocked Mercedes doesn't have a trickle charger port for the car. Dealer said that you have to rip out the carpeting in the back and it voids some of your warranty. Only connection to charge is to use the actual battery terminals in the engine bay.

Again, if your S63 is under warranty, any Mercedes dealer or road side assistance will replace it free of charge. Mercedes replaced 2 of my batteries on 2 different AMGs.
